My husband and I of barely 2 years have been having several arguments lately. I know people say the first 2 years are hell but I don’t think I’ve ever felt this low in my life before. My husband is one of the most honest people I know, so when he told me that my weight was becoming a problem for health reasons, because my acid reflux was getting bad throughout the day and at night, I changed my lifestyle and eating habits and all was well.
I am 16 and I have been dating someone for 6 months. At the beginning, everything was perfect. He is the most loving, hilarious person I have ever met. I had my parents approval and everyone said we were the cutest couple.
But, my mother developed hatred toward my boyfriend. She now thinks he is disrespectful and a bad influence. She judges him and blames him for things he doesn’t do, and is now forbidding me to go out with him. I love him but she wants me to end things. I have tried fixing things and have invited him over to my family, but it only seems to make things worse.
I don’t feel loved or supported at home, and am constantly being told that everything I do is wrong. I also feel unsafe and scared for my future. I think I have met my future husband, and the fact that I am not allowed to date him is giving me severe anxiety and depression.
I don’t know what to do, because I can’t chose between my family and my boyfriend. I need advice. At this point, I don’t want to live in my house anymore.
My boyfriend is a loud Italian man. He is younger than me by a handful of years. He has the biggest heart I’ve ever encountered. His Italian anger can be rather in your face. This last weekend, we spent time at my mother’s installing a sprinkler system for her. He generally enjoys being around my brother and mother. He feels like family.
However, she took us to dinner and told him to order whatever because the food was cheap. She saw the bill and cracked a joke about how half of the bill came from his meal. Then on the way home, she drove and isn’t the easiest to ride with – she drives jerky and all gas, all brake, she managed to slam on the brakes heading toward a stop sign. The left over food from dinner went flying and he and I got choked by our seat belts. I commented on how food went flying and he tried to play it off by cracking a joke about her driving. She snapped. Continue reading
My boyfriend of 2 years was married before. He has a cheesy, romantic quote about love, with his wedding date tattooed on his arm. It’s from 2010. They were only married for about a year so he’s been divorced for a while plus he’s been dating me for a while. We have talked about him getting it covered up a few times before. But he still hasn’t.
Is it wrong for me to be upset about this? We got into an argument recently about it and he snapped and said that it’s his body and he will do with it what he wants and that he is not ashamed of his past/choices. This happened in front of his mom and sister, it made me and our relationship feel super insignificant, especially since I thought we were quite serious and have been living together for almost a year now.
I am 30 and I have been with my girlfriend who’s 26, for 7 years and we are engaged. We have a 4 year old chocolate labrador and live with my girlfriend’s brother and their mum in her house.
It is very stressful living here, my girlfriend’s mum is very opinionated and suffers from mental instability. She is on antidepressants and is very hot and cold with her emotions. My girlfriend is studying animal conservation at University and her brother works part time at a farm. Their mum works at a school full time. I work full time as a security manager. I know this is all over the place but it’s hard to think what I want to say so thanks for bearing with me.
There are constant arguments over all sorts of things. I argue with my girlfriend’s mum, which I hate, as I’m living under her roof so it feels majorly awkward. My girlfriend’s brother hardly works any hours so gets hardly any money which makes matters worse as he doesn’t pay his way at all. My girlfriend’s mum wants my girlfriend and I to pay for his share of bills, but I think it’s unfair as he makes no effort to get a full time job. He’s very picky about where he will work. We can’t move out because I am in some debt and can’t afford to rent a house big enough for the 2 of us and our dog. My girlfriend only gets student loan money which is soon to stop as she graduates this year so she can’t pay towards it.
I get massively depressed and sometimes feel like I need to leave the situation, break off the engagement and get out, but I can’t. We have been together through a lot and I love my girlfriend too much to quit on her. I worry that she will never find a job and will just end up working a crap job and we won’t be able to afford to move out. We want to start our life together and have a family but it really feels like it will never happen. What shall I do?
My boyfriend and I have been dating for about 7 months, and I recently moved in with him 4 months ago. What I didn’t know until after, was how angry he gets. We will fight, and recently we have been fighting at least once a week about my personality and attitude problem.
Every time he gets mad about something, he will try to reason it out with me and tells me that I have an attitude problem and that I’m selfish with my own thoughts and actions when I don’t conform to his demands. He has thrown glass cups and whiskey glasses at the wall, punched walls, and kicked down chairs out of his frustration and anger towards something I caused. Continue reading
My girlfriend thinks she doesn’t have my full attention no matter what I do, because when we began talking months ago I liked pictures on Instagram while we were talking, not even dating. She assumes that I have eyes for everyone ever since that incident, no matter how much I reassure her, she won’t take me for my word.
She likes to bring up hypothetical situations and when I give my answer, it isn’t good enough or she twists it to fit her argument. She has a lot of self doubt and she blames me for it, we have come back to this same argument time and time again and this is literally our only problem in the relationship. She has threatened to leave me plenty of times but never has and she says my words don’t do anything, but it seems my actions don’t either. Continue reading
Basically, this may just be a case of “grow-some-balls”, but here goes…
I’ve been seeing someone now for ten months, (my longest relationship yet & the first since I was 21, I’m now 28) we don’t live together, we see each other three-to-four times a week, and I spend the majority of my weekends as if I were single; playing football, then going out with my mates, then seeing her Sunday night, then a couple of nights a week at my place, just watching tv etc etc…. My boyfriend and I have been together for five years. For the past three years, we continuously get into really bad arguments. There is nothing glaringly wrong with our relationship — no cheating, good trust, good sex, etc. I am worried that the fighting is ruining us.
