“I wish my boyfriend were more romantic”

My boyfriend and I have been together for seven or so months now. We met when I was at a bad time (still am) in my life, and he’s continuously helped me push through it. I’m forever grateful for that. He’s a good young man with a lot of heart, and I care about him deeply.

Now, I know that it isn’t my job to change him, but to be frank, I do wish he was more romantic. He told me he’s been “burned” by a lot of girls, so that might be a factor. It’s just the little things. He’ll say something sweet to me and then follow it up with something inappropriate about my body, like how great my boobs are. Or when I ask him what he’s thinking about, he replies with “your boobs,” or “how hot that mouth is,” or he’ll randomly lick my face when he leans into kiss me.

“I have a crush on my boyfriend’s friend”

I really love my partner and have been dating him for almost two years (definitely out the honeymoon phase). However, lately he’s been getting on my nerves over very simple things (whether he can control them or not), and I have just recently started to get small crushes on other guys, including one of this friends.

I do really love him so much and never could even think about cheating on him. Am I falling out of love, or am I just going through a rough phase that’s part of a relationship?

I am very lucky to have a good friendship with my best friend’s boyfriend, who seems to really enjoy pairing people together. Because of that, he decided to start trying to pair me up with this boy. This boy is amazing. He’s sweet, funny, and cute. I like him, and apparently, he likes me, too (according to my best friend’s boyfriend). There are a few problems, though.

The first thing is I feel bad. I’m (unfortunately) a pretty nervous/insecure girl, and I’m not sure if he truly likes me or not, and I don’t want to force him into a relationship he doesn’t want to be in.

“I have a secret crush on the guy my friend is dating”

So I really like this guy, and once i realized it, I was so happy to tell my friend. However, when she got to my house, we went upstairs so I could tell her, and she told me that she’s dating the guy I like.

I decided not to tell her I liked him and to try and get over him. It’s been about a month, and my friends were telling me today that they don’t think he likes my friend, because after like a week, he stopped wanting to hang out.

Also, my friend said that he told her he might like someone else. I had suspected before that he liked me, but I forgot about it once he started dating my friend. But recently, I caught him staring at me in class and trying to just be near me. This would make me really happy, but now I don’t know what to do, because he might break up with my friend to be with me.

“My boyfriend’s obsessiveness makes me uncomfortable”

I’d never been in a relationship before, so this is my first one, and I’m not sure what to do. My boyfriend and I have been dating for a little over three months now, and I didn’t really like him, to be honest, when he asked me out. But I was like, “eh, I’ll go for it.”

I don’t know what’s been up, because I used to find a lot of the things he did cute or funny, and now I find myself getting irritated really fast. I feel really bad about it, but I don’t know. He likes to hug and kiss and hang out a lot more than I do. And sometimes, he hugs me, and I’ll go to leave the hug and he won’t let me. Or when I’m walking somewhere, he’ll grab/hug me and won’t let me go where I need to until I hug him back or something.

“My boyfriend is freaked out that I cut myself”

I’m 18, and my boyfriend is almost 23. We’ve been together over a year, and I have problems with wild emotions and mediocre depression, serious anxiety, and general bad emotional management.

Six months ago, I cut myself. By cut, I mean one small scratch across my wrist that scabbed and scarred — really nothing serious.

However, the principle of self-harm really upset my boyfriend, and he made me promise not to do it again. Of course, I said I wouldn’t, because I really believed I didn’t need to, and it hadn’t made me feel better, so why would I?

But here we are — we had another outrageously painful fight, and I did the same thing again. Except now, I can’t brush it off with “it was a one time thing,” because it clearly wasn’t.

To understand the seriousness of my question, I must tell you the short bit of what’s going on …

A girl I was with before got pregnant, but I only found out after three months of not talking to her. She is now in her 3rd trimester. After hearing the news, I started working towards a better life for my child. We ended up back together, because I figured I had few other options at the time, and finding out that news was so random.

I tagged along with a family member to go to Alaska. I had discussed this with her, and we had it planned so that I would get set up there first, and then she would come along as well, so that we could give the family thing a shot and stay together.

“My friend is suicidal, but no one else seems to care”

I need advice concerning my friend, and I have no clue what to do. It is affecting me mentally and my friend’s future and life.

She says her step-mom slaps her, and she hates and wishes she was in jail. She accuses her of stealing jewelry from her friends and throwing out gifts from them. She is scared that her step-mom will do something worse someday.

On top of this, my friend is depressed, cutting, and suicidal. I told her she should contact the police, but her stepmother would just lie and get her in trouble some way. Her dad is under investigation by the police for reasons I don’t know and doesn’t want to mess with that at all.

“Our friends think we’re perfect together, but I don’t know how she feels about me”

Hi! I’m not going to tell you my age, but I’m fairly young. Recently, one of my friends introduced me to this girl. She’s super-nice and funny, and my friends seem to think we’re basically the exact same person.

We talk almost every day, by text in the morning and Skype at night. And we sometimes go out and do things, but it’s never gone that far. Some people think we should date, and one person even said she is into me.

What are your thoughts on the matter? I’d appreciate some advice.

I’ve been in a relationship with my boyfriend for five years, and we have a three-year-old daughter. We have a lot of issues, though. Should I stay? How do I leave?

My boyfriend doesn’t support my dreams. He tells me I can’t do what I love and that I am too much of a dreamer. I want to be a teacher and travel someday. On top of this, he doesn’t have much ambition to do anything great in his lifetime.

He is verbally abusive often and sometimes mildly physically abusive (throwing food/small things at me, breaking my things, etc.). He says things to me on a regular basis that most people don’t hear their whole lives. Horrible things that cut me deep. He blows things way out of proportion whether its me or some other factor that upsets him.
