“He holds money over me”

So my boyfriend and I have been together almost two years. Moved in together 8 months ago. I make significantly less money than him, and he makes significantly more than average. He pays the rent, I pay the rest of the bills (electric, water, trash, cable, etc). He always holds it over me that he pays for everything, while I do all the cleaning, cooking, laundry, and such to make up for what I can’t pay.

Sometimes I feel like he needs to up his end, cook or clean, anything really. Also, my car needs tires, and he offered to buy (as my Xmas gift) USED tires for me…. I said no and that he’s being cheap but how do I go about getting him to be less stingy, and/or stop holding money over me??

“Is this moving too fast?”

I’ve been sharing a bed with, and pretty much living in my new girlfriend’s apartment for our entire relationship.

A little background on us before I explain the rest: I’m 20 and she’s 23, we work at the same place and have the same shift with different days off. She doesn’t go to school or have a degree, and I’m currently a full time student at an online university. We have a ton in common as far as our interests, likes, dislikes, and hobbies go. Really the only other thing worth mentioning maybe, is that she has a 3 year old and shares joint custody with her ex boyfriend, but that doesn’t really bother me at all.

Anyways, I feel like I need some advice… Continue reading

“I’ve developed crippling anxiety”

My boyfriend and I just moved to a new state. We got our first apartment together (although we’ve been living together for almost 2 years) and we’re struggling to make ends meet. Most of the reason we are struggling is because I’ve developed crippling anxiety.

I feel depressed, tired and sick all the time which leads to me hardly ever being able to work. I beat myself up about it constantly and I think its leading me into an even deeper depression. I have no support here besides him and I feel like I’m crushing his soul with my constant negativity. I love him so much, I know he is the one I want to marry someday. But I feel like I am just going to ruin our relationship if I can’t get back on my feet soon. What do I do?

“I’m in a relationship but stuck dreaming about a guy I work with”

I’ve been in a relationship for almost 3 years with a good guy. He’s honestly a good person. We’ve been together since I was 20 and he had just turned 30. The first four months of our relationship were amazing. Total honeymoon phase. But after we started living together, he started to show his true emotional weaknesses.

He would play video games for hours, sometime bordering on days. He would come home from work and ignore me until bedtime where he would toss and turn until morning only to do it all over again. We never did anything fun or went anywhere together. I was starting to feel incredibly trapped and unappreciated. We fought all the time, with me always conceding my side to calm him down or make him happy. Continue reading

“I’m dating someone for stability”

I’m not claiming to be a great person but I’m dating someone for stability. I didn’t realize that was what I was doing until I really looked at the situation. He has a house that he asked me to move into, I’m saving money, I have a companion, and I get to be closer to my family. Everything sounds good on paper but there are a few downsides.

I’m moving several hours away from where I live for him and the only time I’m really attracted to him is when we’re having sex. He doesn’t give me the emotional support that I’m craving. He was so kind before we started dating but as soon as we put a title on us (which he pushed for) he became distant and cold. He’s one-worded and I feel like he doesn’t care about me. He has no problem going two days without any kind of communication (which is a big deal to me since this is long distance right now.) ¬†When I press him on it, he apologizes and is okay for a day or two before reverting back to old habits.
