I’m married and my husband was just discharged from the army for attempting suicide in basic. We moved in with his parents. I’m scared he’s cheating on me or isn’t in love with me. He always goes in to work early or stays late. Once he came back late smelling like perfume. Always agitated. Emotionally absent – does nothing if I cry. Always hides his phone. We used to fight a lot but now it’s just silence. I know he’s depressed and upset at himself for “yet another failure “, but I can’t tell if it’s just him or us or me.
I’m so sorry to hear of this. I would love to be a listening ear for you. I recently posted a blog about Dating Military and it can be really hard. I believe there should be more support groups for those who date or marry someone in the Military. Keep writing, keep expressing your feelings and at the end love you no matter what. Best wishes!
There are support groups. You need to look around your base to find them. The base Chapman, there is family and marriage counseling, and more. You definitely need marriage counseling. If he won’t go, then go alone.
