Does he actually want to hang out, or is he just being nice?

So today I texted a guy who I really like. I asked him if he would like to hang out or talk sometime to get to know each other better. He replied saying: “I’d be happy to hang out sometime and chat!” Does that mean he just wants to be friends, or does he want to actually hang out with me? Or is he just trying to be nice?

[Where did the conversation go after that? Did one of you take it further by suggesting a day/time/place? If yes, great! Just follow through and start getting to know each other I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

If no solid plan was made you should just put it out there, there’s nothing to lose. Suggest a movie or coffee or something, like “Hey do you want to grab a drink tomorrow night?” If he agrees and you end up going then you’re all good. If he only kind of agrees, or has an excuse why he can’t and doesn’t suggest a new plan, or beats around the question… I wouldn’t ask again. Maybe see if he asks you in the next few days, maybe try one last time to ask him out or ask him if he’d ever want to hang out, but even that is pushing it imo.

Basically, you have to appreciate a guy for what he does, not what he says. This guy agreed to hang out via text, so what? People do that all the time. It’s the follow through that counts. I’d give him maybe one or two chances to follow through and then if he doesn’t, move on.

[I think it’s way too early to really know how he feels. He himself may not know how he feels. So pretty much what Erica said.

What do you think?
